Arrive without a perfect plan
You do not need a finished image in your head. A prompt, a material, a memory, or a color you cannot stop thinking about can be enough to begin.

Make room for color, curiosity, and the quiet thrill of seeing what your hands already know.
A Different Way To Make
Maybe you have not picked up a paintbrush since school. Maybe you make art often but miss the part that feels less like performing and more like being surprised. Maybe you simply want an afternoon where no one expects you to get it right.
Jennifer Narr’s intuitive painting classes are a gentle place to start. These beginner-friendly creative experiences invite you to work with color, texture, reflection, and your own response to the moment. There is room to pause, try something, change your mind, and make a little mess. Honestly, that is often where the good part begins.
Each class is held in Elk River and shaped around a specific experience, from painting projects with layered materials to gatherings that pair art-making with meditation or journaling. The common thread is simple: you are welcome exactly where you are, with no polished portfolio required.

What The Experience Makes Room For
You do not need a finished image in your head. A prompt, a material, a memory, or a color you cannot stop thinking about can be enough to begin.
Some experiences begin with a guided meditation, journaling, or reflection. It is a chance to put the busy parts of the day down before the paint comes out.
Jennifer offers approachable guidance while leaving room for your own choices. Your painting does not need to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful.
You will take home what you created, plus the memory of giving yourself a little time to play, notice, and make something that feels like you.

Creative Experiences With Depth
Jennifer’s past Meet Your Spirit Animal workshop brought together guided meditation, journaling, conversation, and intuitive painting. It is a lovely example of how a creative gathering can hold more than one kind of making. The point was never to produce matching paintings. It was to give each person an approachable way to explore, reflect, and translate a personal experience into color and form.
Other classes lean into a material or project, such as a textured Harvest Moon created with molding paste, paint, metallic accents, and finishing wax. The subject changes. The welcome stays the same. You are invited to experiment with a supportive guide nearby, whether you are new to art supplies or returning to them after a long while.

Traditional art classes can sometimes make creativity feel like a test. There is a sample to match, a technique to master, and a little voice in the back of your mind wondering whether you are keeping up. Jennifer’s approach makes a different kind of room. Guidance is there when you want it, but so is the permission to notice what you are drawn to and follow it.
That might mean building texture until a surface feels alive. It might mean choosing a color because it makes you happy, even if you cannot explain why. It might mean allowing an unexpected mark to become the place your painting starts telling you what it wants next. You are not being asked to make a carbon copy of Jennifer’s work. You are being invited to make something that belongs to you.
For some people, that is a fresh creative practice. For others, it is a return to a part of themselves that has been waiting patiently under errands, screens, and the very serious business of being an adult. Either way, there is no pressure to arrive with a big revelation. An afternoon spent painting, noticing, and trying a new material can be more than enough.
If you leave with a piece you love, wonderful. If you leave with a new favorite color, a question worth carrying, or the small satisfaction of having made time for yourself, that counts too. The painting is real. So is the space you gave yourself to make it, slowly and without apology, in good company, at your own pace.
